Problems accessing some library resources

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

We are currently experiencing problems with accessing some of our online resources (those accessed through Ezproxy). We are working with all parties to resolve this as quickly as possible and apologise for the inconvenience.

While we are working on resolving this issue, if you receive an error message for the resources listed below, then please close the window and try the link again. This usually clears the problem and will open up the resource.

The main resources affected are:

  • American Chemical Society Journals
  • Bridgeman Education
  • British Library 19th Century Newspaper Collection
  • British Newspapers 1600-1900
  • British Pharmacopoeia Online
  • Burney Collection
  • Construction Information Service
  • Henry Stewart Talks: Marketing and Management Audio Visual Presentations
  • IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Xplore
  • OGEL (Oil Gas and Energy Law)
  • OnePetro
  • Passport
  • Safari e-books

Library tower

Thanks to Kate and Fiona for letting us take some photographs from their office on the 5th floor of the Faculty of Health and Social Care! The new pictures give a great idea of the scale of the tower…

You can see more images of the Masterplan construction at our RGU Library Flickr page.

Important changes to RefWorks: library sessions

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

A reminder that the Athens access route is being replaced by the Shibboleth access route. Existing RefWorks users, who have not already done so, must save their existing references and transfer them over to a new account before 30th December or lose existing references. In addition, the RefWorks interface is being upgraded as RefWorks 2.0.

Full information on both of these changes, including full instructions on transferring references to a new account, is available on the library website. The library is also offering the following sessions covering both developments.

Tues 6th Dec: 10-11 or 2-3 in B28
Wed 7th Dec: 12-1 or 2-3 in ABS204
Mon 12th Dec: 10-11 or 2-3 in PA25
Tues 13th Dec: 10-11 or 2-3 in H402
Wed 14th Dec: 10-11 or 2-3 in SB09

Sessions are open to all staff and students who currently use RefWorks. If you would like to attend one of these sessions, please book a place by contacting us via email:

Please note that these sessions are NOT for new users of RefWorks. Guidance for RefWorks beginners is available on CampusMoodle.

BizEd Premier ebooks available again

Monday, November 14th, 2011

Following problems with their existing platform which caused these ebooks to be unavailable for approximately one month, the company have now made these titles available via the MyiLibrary ebook platform.  You will be able to find them by searching the library catalogue by author or title or by using the keyword BizEd.  They can also by found by following the MyiLibrary link from the ebooks page and searching for the author or title.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused whilst this transfer was being arranged by the publisher.
